This isn’t just another tech sprint. It’s a mission to build real-world knowledge that communities across Europe can use to prepare for disasters — from earthquakes to floods.
The “Disaster Resilience Days” event (19th-21st May 2025), organised under CERIS (Community for European Research and Innovation for Security) brings together experts, policymakers and innovators from across Europe and beyond to discuss disaster resilience, preparedness and technological advancements in crisis response and preparedness.

SYNERGIES focuses on five key preparedness needs: engaging all relevant actors, strengthening education and training, communicating effectively with citizens, managing spontaneous volunteers, and ensuring sustainable solutions. Building on research from six previous projects, SYNERGIES integrates findings, refines practices, and guides three real-life Preparedness Cases in La Réunion, Malta and Rotterdam. More: https://synergiesproject.eu/ DRS Hub The Hub is being developed as an entry-level reference point for stakeholders in Disaster Risk Management including citizens, local organisations, responders and municipal / regional authorities, national and international bodies, researchers and policymakers. Its aim is to present a comprehensive starting point for stakeholders to search for relevant supporting information and data as they develop their own DRM strategies, policies and procedures as well as for those looking to increase their professional knowledge and undertake further research. B-prepared is proud and grateful to contribute with Disastropedia as a DRS Hub Platform. ILS – Integrierte Leitstelle München In April 2025, the cooperation between B-Prepared and the emergency communications center Integrierte Leitstelle München, ILS 1 was strengthened. Emulated calls during a special training session of call-taker apprentices, visited by UniBW colleagues Jane Jean Kiam and Sean Klein, were all recorded. These recordings, after an additional step of strict anonymisation, will be used by the UniBwM to model and train call-taker non-player characters (NPC) in VR-prepared. No single project, person or organization can save all the lives, educate all the people and be successful by itself. Our greatest strength is in unity and collaboration. With B-prepared, we take that to heart by organizing a Co-Creation Group (CCG) where every partner engages those experts in their network to create knowledge together.
In cooperation with the Community of European Research for Innovation and Security (CERIS), the first EU-Japan Workshop on Research and Innovation in Support of Disaster Risk Reduction was held at the Uji Campus of Kyoto University on 3-4 March, 2025, where B-prepared colleagues were invited to present and participate with posters.
Developers are done with another OVERDRIVE SESSION. VR-prepared is getting closer to Alpha day-by-day. The setup was similar, but a bit more dense, as everyone could attend now. Let’s see what the guys achieved during this three-day developing marathon.
The B-prepared Horizon Europe project participated in the BBK-Fachkongress in Bonn from February 5th to 7th, 2025, showcasing its work on disaster resilience. The event highlighted the growing role of serious games and VR-based training for both citizens and first responders. B-prepared contributed through a poster exhibition and a presentation on AI-driven simulations, fostering discussions on innovative civil protection strategies.
