Ustka Municipality is a Polish Local Authority located directly on the Baltic Coast. Populated by 8,800 residents and composed of 18 villages, the municipality carries out tasks assigned to local governments in Poland, such as organizing the work of schools and kindergartens, managing local roads, environmental and nature protection, as well as water management. The municipality also organizes mass events such as festivals, shows, sports and tourist rallies, engaging both residents and tourists. Due to its location, the municipality experiences climate change, particularly the effects of winter storms on the Baltic Sea.
Ustka Municipality cooperates with non-governmental organizations, and one of its tasks includes organizing and managing Volunteer Fire Brigades within its area. In Poland, these fire brigades, staffed by volunteers, represent the highest level of professionalism and are integrated into the National Rescue System. As part of the B-prepared project, we will utilize the substantive and organizational potential of Volunteer Fire Brigades in collecting data on actual incidents requiring their intervention. Additionally, our experts will assist in gathering comparative data as part of the B-prepared project.
President of the NGO Development Policy Foundation, a committed initiator of cross-sectoral and international cooperation between the local authorities, both within the EU and in neighbouring and candidate countries. In the B-prepared project I represent Ustka Municipality, being responsible for public consultations and open dialogue regarding the tools elaborated within the project.
In the B-prepared project I’m a project expert facilitating the dialogue with the professional and semi-professional stakeholders, organizing the practical knowledge they dispose into the project framework and language. I have a third sector and media background, which helps me to perform those tasks.
I am a civil servant at Ustka Municipalityt, responsible for our local authority of external funds management and fundraising. As Ustka volunteer firefighters are directly involved in the development of the B-prepared solutions, I’m very excited to see the results of our joint work.
I command the associations of the volunteer firefighters in Ustka, composed of 7 independent brigades, 4 of which are included in the state rescue system. It means that our volunteers can be assigned to any action in the country, whenever needed. We participated in damage mitigation during natural disasters, caused by heavy wind, high tight or flooding. We fight fires on a daily basis, but also support the medical rescue system (for example during the heat waves) and we assist the maritime rescue teams. We also provide education and prevention services to our citizens. Our team is ready to provide our practical knowledge to the B-prepared project and we are excited about the Hackathon planned in Ustka.

I’m responsible for the correct project management, and in my professional life, for the strategic development of the municipality, including dialogue with the citizens and civil sector. B-Prepared project is more than welcome in our municipality, we want to pilot the solutions elaborated, also during the public events we organize each year. The citizens’ safety is part of our mission, and as a municipality located directly by the Baltic Sea we a exposed to climate-change related disasters more than others.
