For every Work Programme, the EU defines its priority areas of research as calls for proposals. After considerable competition of proposals with a multitude of innovative ideas, a few projects are launched in each topic.
How are the results produced by these projects actually finding their way back to the policymakers? Well, Cluster 3 (Civil security for society) has a nice mechanism exactly for that.
Every year, the European Research Executive Agency (REA) and the Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs organise the Projects to Policy Seminar (PPS) to which all the coordinators of the newly launched projects are invited. The in-person event is structured into breakout sessions, preceded by a plenary with several presentations of general interest. Participants meet in groups that are split into the four thematic areas of this cluster, and in groups that are split across thematic areas.
The aim is to raise awareness among the relevant policy Directorates-General and EU agencies on the new projects that have been launched, as well as to provide guidance to these new projects regarding the policy-related outputs the policy Directorates-General are interested in.
B-prepared as a newly founded project was also invited to participate and present at this event. Project Coordinator András Majdik, Deputy Coordinator Zoltán Székely and Communication Manager Orsolya Székely-Keresztesi represented the project. It was a pleasure sharing our goals and elaborating the policy-related achievements and future plans, knowing that the information is heard and will possibly be taken up by those who work in policymaking.
